Elena Baltacha
Elena Baltacha ex British No.1 and WTA women’s professional tennis player and held the British No.1 position for over two years and intermittently since 2002.
She has made the top 50 WTA rankings for 2 consecutive years finishing the 2011 season as a top 50 player; this has not been achieved in British women’s tennis since Anne Hobbs in 1987.
Elena has had 3 victories over top 10 players, including two victories over Li Na and one against Francesca Schiavone, who at the time was the reigning French Open Grand Slam champion.
She can also boast of being one of the most successful players in Fed Cup Great Britain team history, second only to Jo Durie who achieved a ranking of WTA 5 in the world.
Elena now wants to give back to British tennis and use her experience as a professional tennis player. She wants to invest this experience into her own academy (EBAT) and help girls and boys from schools in the Ipswich area who dream of one day being a tennis champion.
